Two-dimensional Controllable Cellular Automata BasedPseudo Random Bit Sequence Generator

Zhu Baoping,Ma Qian,Liu Fengyu

Strategic Study of CAE 2007, Volume 9, Issue 6,   Pages 43-47

Abstract:

A novel cellular automata (CA) — two-dimensional controllable CA — is proposed in this paper.  According to characteristics of two-dimensional controllable CA,  a pseudo random generating method based on two-dimensional controllable CA with a trapezoidal structure is presented.  Simulation demonstrates that pseudo random bit sequence generator based on the two-dimensional controllable CA with a trapezoidal structure is easily implemented,  and can generate high speed bit sequence and excellent statistical properties.  This novel CA is widely used in symmetrical cryptography.

Identification of structural parameters and boundary conditions using a minimum number of measurement

Ali KARIMPOUR, Salam RAHMATALLA

Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering 2020, Volume 14, Issue 6,   Pages 1331-1348 doi: 10.1007/s11709-020-0686-4

Abstract: This article proposes a novel methodology that uses mathematical and numerical models of a structure to build a data set and determine crucial nodes that possess the highest sensitivity. Regression surfaces between the structural parameters and structural output features, represented by the natural frequencies of the structure and local transmissibility, are built using the numerical data set. A description of a possible experimental application is provided, where sensors are mounted at crucial nodes, and the natural frequencies and local transmissibility at each natural frequency are determined from the power spectral density and the power spectral density ratios of the sensor responses, respectively. An inverse iterative process is then applied to identify the structural parameters by matching the experimental features with the available parameters in the myriad numerical data set. Three examples are presented to demonstrate the feasibility and efficacy of the proposed methodology. The results reveal that the method was able to accurately identify the boundary coefficients and physical parameters of the Euler-Bernoulli beam as well as a highway bridge model with elastic foundations using only two measurement points. It is expected that the proposed method will have practical applications in the identification and analysis of restored structural systems with unknown parameters and boundary coefficients.

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2006, Volume 1, Issue 4,   Pages 479-484 doi: 10.1007/s11465-006-0064-5

Abstract: Applying directed complex network to model the main structure of a product family, according to in-degree bi-logarithmic coordinate distribution curve and distribution rule of nodes of the network, in-degree evolving rule of nodes of the network is presented and analytic expression of in-degree probability density of nodes is derived. Through the analysis of the relation between existing kinds of components and existing product numbers, an expression of the relation between kinds of components and product numbers is derived. A forecast method for the increment of component numbers and parts based on the increment of products is presented. As an example, the component numbers of an industrial steam turbine product family is forecasted, forecast result verified and forecast error analyzed.

A comprehensive review of wind power based power system frequency regulation

Frontiers in Energy 2023, Volume 17, Issue 5,   Pages 611-634 doi: 10.1007/s11708-023-0876-6

Abstract: Wind power (WP) is considered as one of the main renewable energy sources (RESs) for future low-carbon and high-cost-efficient power system. However, its low inertia characteristic may threaten the system frequency stability of the power system with a high penetration of WP generation. Thus, the capability of WP participating in the system frequency regulation has become a research hotspot. In this paper, the impact of WP on power system frequency stability is initially presented. In addition, various existing control strategies of WP participating in frequency regulation are reviewed from the wind turbine (WT) level to the wind farm (WF) level, and their performances are compared in terms of operating principles and practical applications. The pros and cons of each control strategy are also discussed. Moreover, the WP combing with energy storage system (ESS) for system frequency regulation is explored. Furthermore, the prospects, future challenges, and solutions of WP participating in power system frequency regulation are summarized.
